N is for Nice

The Soul-Wise Living Alphabet

Inspired April 2013

The Soul-Wise Living Alphabet is launched to Awaken Your Spirit & empower your thinking. Words are Energy! They can lift us up and they can just as easily bring us down. Spirit driven words will raise your vibration UP. By finding the meaning these words have in your life and embracing them, one at a time each day ~ after the course of a month, The Soul-Wise Living Alphabet will have raised your energy up. My desire for you is that you are able to embrace your inner spirit  and, as a result, live In-Joy. ~ laura

N is for Nice.

My Mom. She was one of the nicest people I knew. She offered a simply recipe to being Nice: “If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all.”

No doubt you’ve heard that expression about being nice ~ perhaps even from your own mother! But, did she ever take it to the next step to being nice? My mom didn’t. Though, in her heart, I’m certain she meant it for me. I wish she had meant it for herself too.  The next step is a simple directive but quite possibly the most challenging thing any of us can achieve.

The next step? “If you don’t have anything nice to say to yourself, don’t say anything at all.” Translation: Be your own best friend and support yourself with kind, loving, ‘nice’ thoughts. This is hard because our ego wants to be our best friend and vies for this position at all times. Our ego’s friendship will tear you apart. It will talk compare you to others. It will tell you you are not trying hard enough. It will tell you you’re not good enough. Need I go on?! Sadly, My Mom’s ego spoke loudly to her. Does yours speak that loudly? So, the challenge becomes speaking to yourself from a place of love and spirit. Speaking to yourself with positive thoughts.

Being Nice. It starts with the sitting still and knowing that you are Love. That you are light and that you have something valuable to share in this world. Certainly If you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all does not mean not speaking your mind. It means doing so with compassion and understanding, nice and loving talk. And, this starts with speaking that way to yourself.

Do you check your thoughts throughout the day? Are they Nice? What thoughts did you just have reading this? Were they loving of the content? Of me 😉 Of yourself?

  1. I totally agree with this, Laura. Becoming conscious of our own self-talk and the way that we critique ourselves. Instead, stepping back from the ‘thinking’ and allowing ourselves love and care to flow. From that place we have so much more to offer everything and everyone else.

A good idea to become conscious of our thoughts throughout the day. How we think of ourselves we tend to project onto everything else also.
