How to Let Go of The End Result

How to  Let Go of the End Result: Focus on the end result, take action steps and live in faith and still get what you want, desire and deserve.

So, you’ve created a dream and a desire. And, it counts on the co-operation of another who seemingly is not as supportive. What do you do? You Begin with the end in mind. Focus on the end result, take action step and live in faith. And, It has everything to do with YOU and nothing to do with the OTHER person!

Here’s the example and it’s a personal story.

I moved in with my man-friend and we’ve been using his old bed. We have been talking about a new mattress for awhile. We even know which new mattress we wanted to get. We even knew the time frame would be this month. And, uncharacteristically, we both found ourselves looking at a clear schedule for the weekend. By nature, I’m a planner. He’s a let’s-do-what-comes-up kind of guy. Somehow, for our household, we get done what needs to get done.  it works ~ most of the time 😉 So, on this Friday night, I wanted to plan out the entire weekend!  He wanted to see what came up on the radar. Now, that could create a problem, could it not?

But, I choose a home filled with loving energy and I set the intention for that before going to bed and told the Universe “So be it. So it is”  So while you let go,  Focus on the End Result,  Take actions and Live in Faith.

Here are a few tips to consider:

Back to my story. So, we wake up Saturday. And this is what happens: I have, in my mind’s eye my chores and weekend planned. And he says “Let’s go up to the furniture store and buy that mattress today. Maybe it can get delivered tonight!” Now, the ‘old’ me started talking in my ear. “Really, you tell me now?! I thought you wanted to do xyz and now you want to just go get a matress?  yada, yada, yada.’ But the ‘new’ me said “Hmmmmmm let me see if that fits my desires. Yup, it does! let’s go.” I let go and focused on the end result, took actions and lived in faith.

Now, some people would say he could respect my desires and have told me the night before. Some people might say that’s awfully selfish of him to expect me to jump. And, some people would say a lot of other things.  But, Begin with the End in Mind. My desire is not to be so selfish that I force  him into being a planner when, indeed, he is not.  My End is a home filled with loving energy. I love spending time with him. I want a new bed. Sounds like a win-win to me! I let go and focused on the end result, took actions and lived in faith.

So off we went. The weekend unfolded at rapid pace. Time for me to really focus in & Check in with the TIPs:

Tip: Create an affirmation:”I create a loving energetic space and this comes easily and effortlessly.” Not only did we get a new mattress, but we also got a new bed. Something he told me we did not need ~ Check in with TIP: Declare your desires ~ all of them ~ to the universe ~ I had I wanted a new mattress AND bed. Our old water bed needed to get dismantled and removed. We have to clean the floor. Harumpf!!!!!!!  Check in with TIP:  leave past issues  in the past ~ what about the planning for this??? That’s our PAST stuff. So, we do all of these things and yes, like any project there are a few snaffus. I could have gone the way of the “I told you so’s’ but it would have served NOTHING. So, I went the way of supportive role.’Let me know when I can help’. And, he did. I let go and focused on the end results, took action and lived in faith.

This is a BIGGIE so pay attention: check in with tip ~ Let go of your need to CONTROL. So, the new bed arrives. We have a few issues. We have to go back to the furniture store.  So back we go. NOT my time frame. NOT my way at all. But, check in with begin with the end in mind tip: “I choose a home filled with loving energy.” I let go and focused on the result, took action and lived in faith.

Check in with tip: Live in Faith. I spent the weekend living in faith. And you know what I got. A clean spanking bedroom. A brand new amazingly comfortable mattress. A New Bed ~ i’m in LOVE with. Oh and did I tell you, we don’t have AC in the woods here in new england and it’s was brutal all weekend long.

I lived in Faith. I now have a window AC unit in the bedroom! (something that was NEVER going to happen!)  And, when he came back from the dump late on Sunday without either of us knowing, I had opened a bottle of champagne to celebrate a great co-operative weekend together and he walked into the house with a bouquet of flowers. The rest remains private!

“I choose a home filled with loving energy.”

What do you do when you are struggling to let go? Does this serve you: Focus on the end result, take action steps and live in faith. and still get what you want, desire and deserve and don’t forget to implement the tips. You might just get champagne and flowers too!

  5. I loved hearing the twists and turns in your story, Laura. And the ending was swoon-worthy! This is a beautiful process to focus on the end result and take action in faith. Letting go of the need to control is huge for me – I hate to change a plan I’ve made, even when the new plan is far better. You’ve given great tips to get over that and focus on the result I want.

  7. I loved this story….sounds just like me and my hubby. I am a planner and he is the go with what comes up. And, I invariably lose my temper at his impromptu attitude about things. Honestly, it has been a hard 25 yrs.

But I have grown up some and have learned to let go of the outcome (most of the time).

So your post does strike an emotional chord with me. I just love your list of items to make it easier to deal with the relationship and let things manifest in due time.

  10. Thanks, Cindy. That means a lot. I did think long and hard about telling it but felt that readers and clients need to know that I too have to reach into my tool-box and use what I offer in my own life as well.

  11. This is so wonderful Laura!

Like you, I’m a planner at heart, but am getting much better at living in faith.

You know, your partner’s suggestion of getting your new mattress etc. sounded perfect to me – even though I’m a planner! I love the reinforcement of staying in faith – I can never hear that too often!

    Comment by Sarada — July 22, 2013 @ 5:45 am

  12. Indeed! Planning vs. spontaneity is a balance beam that requires faith be present. 🙂
