Clear the Clutter to Create More Joy

Clutter. It clogs the flow of energy in a home. When the flow of energy in a home is clogged, Joy is stinted. Don’t let inner harmony get stinted. De-Clutter! Spring cleaning time is here and after the winter we had here in the US, I’ve heard so many people actually get excited about this this year and that makes me excited. Because when people declutter, they bring more energy into their lives and when they bring more energy into their lives, they bring more Joy.

clutter, joy, energy flow

Clutter. Too much stuff or too much unorganized stuff. It will stagnate energy flow in your space. It can energetically hold you back. It can block up emotions and even create health problems. Things we surround ourselves with influence our thoughts. Clutter will stymie Joy. If you want more joy, Just Look to your surroundings. It will always give you clues.

Clutter and Joy. It’s an inverse relationship. As a Feng Shui Interior Alignment Practitioner™, clutter is the first place, I look to support my clients in allowing joy into their lives.

As you prepare to declutter, use these four principles:

Love it: Determine if something is something you LOVE and it brings your energy UP when you look at it and it doesn’t take up too much space ~ physically & emotionally.  If it passes this criteria, keep it.
Use it:
Determine if something is something you USE, if it will not be missed in the present, and if it’s purpose supports your dreams and desires. If it passes this criteria, keep it.
Release It:
If it doesn’t meet the criteria above, then it’s time to pass it on. Recycle, Re-gift, impart it to another. Just because it no longer serves you doesn’t mean it can’t be used by another!
Create it’s space:
Systematize and create clutter free storage spaces that allow for energy to flow through your home.

Create your surroundings so that energy flows. This energy supports you ~ it’s the premise of feng shui. This  energy creates clarity and gives you the space to make choices best on this clarity and what’s best for you. Then, your joy increases and your soul sings!

And for now, what space will you look to declutter first as your first step to spring cleaning? (If you don’t know what space, join me on the call, I’ll give you my wisdom on that!)

  3. “Clutter will stymie Joy.” This is profound, Laura. Now I know why I feel so antsy when the countertops are covered with crap and drawers are overflowing with pens. Here’s to decluttering to free the Joy.
