How to See the Signs in Your Life.

What signs are  in your life right now that you should listen to? It’s not that hard to see the signs. They are there. All day long every single day. You have to ask for them. You have to be open to them. You have to believe.

Here is  a simple example of Seeing the signs in your life. I was efforting through a project yesterday. It was hard to get into flow and rhythm. The words were not coming to me with ease; I could not see the steps to the project. Indeed, it was hard to see the trees in the forest that lined my path. I took a deep breath in, knowing I was tired and asked what should I do next. I continued on. Again, I hit a wall.

Then, the light bulb above my workstation went out? Literally. I started to laugh. Looked up and said “Okay, Universe, I get it! Got up and went for a walk with the dogs. I let them romp in the river and jump on me with wet paws. I breathed. I laughed.  I saw the sign that the Universe was giving me in my life.

The Sign in My Life was Lights Out!

I came back to my work and, you guessed it, things flowed with great ease. The Universe rewarded me two fold.

First, It  rewarded me with  a sign that I needed to take a break. And so I did.

Second, it rewarded me with energy and flow of my project when I returned. I was able to get done in a short span of time that which I’d been blocked on for hours previously.

You have to understand the Universe gives us signs all day long. Many, we don’t see. Other’s, we ignore. And, then we are given more signs. And, when we ask, when we are open, we will see the signs in our lives.  Some call this coincidence. Some call it serendipity. This is simply how the Universe works~ whatever you call it.

  1. Hmm. Given the research on creativity, i can come up with a completely different explanation. You were working with light- and reached the ends of your creative juice. The light went out, which gives your brain a chance to logically assess what you just finished (and, of course, you broke for another activity). Replaced the light- and with that lamp, your creative juices were kindled once again and employed the data your brain had already processed….

(Your brain sees the light bulb as a subliminal sign…)

Maybe, Roy. But if you look at the light ~ it hasn’t been replaced yet. So with that theory, my creative juices would not have been turned on. I do agree though that my creativity can not be forced~ it needs to be divinely downloaded ~ and when it’s not flowing being out in nature and balancing the elements outside within me allows me to replenish those juices!

  2. Laura, thanks for this…

I have been seeing Monarch butterflies everywhere for the last few weeks (places where they never were before). I know it is a sign and keep wondering what they are trying to tell me.

Sometimes, I am quite blind to seeing. Thanks for sharing your experience.

So many, Lilia, are ‘blind’ to seeing. I consider myself deeply intuitive and follow signs often but in this case, I didn’t see my deep breath and frustration as a sign to take a break ~ I needed the lights to go out 🙂

  3. This is wonderful Laura!

I so often have to remind myself to see the signs! I believe I’m much better than I used to be, though I know it is an ongoing process.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience!

It is and, like I said, sometimes we can see them and sometimes it’s harder ~ it all depends on how open you are to receiving. It’s one of the most powerful tools I work with my clients ~ opening up to receiving signs. But, when they’ve learned how to use the tools available, watch out!

  4. I love this Laura! I’m a HUGE fan of paying attention to the signs. This article’s title alone – piqued my interest. They ARE everywhere. One of my most basic assignments I have my clients do is a blessings journal. It forces them to look for those signs and be grateful for them. It shows us we are not alone in this journey – there is divine guidance all around – we just have to look for it.

Love blessing journals (more than gratitude journals 😉 I actually have a huge punch bowl~ known as my blessing bowl ~ on my dresser next to my bed and load it up each night! And, you are right, we are not alone. Direction is available to any question we have both from within our own souls and from spirit too!

  5. This might just be my favorite post so far… This is a strategy that is sometimes so hard for me because I am a bull! Typical me pushes head first no matter what to get to the finish line… Cuts and bruises and headaches along the way because “no one can stop me… I muuuust get this done…” . That is from an old life. That need to push like that all the time, so now I am learning little by little to listen to the signs, see them and adhere to what they want. Thank you Laura for the gentle reminder…

  6. Amen, Sister! You need to be open to receiving those signs, right? And when they come, don’t ignore them! Just a few seconds ago I got a sign from another post. Now it’s up to me to act on that sign, or ignore it.

    Thanks for the reinforcement!

I say ACT on it Nancy ~ it might mean ignore it (but ignoring is in itself an act you know 😉 KEEP SMILING 🙂
