How to Remain Calm while Facing Challenges ~~~~~~~ with affirmations and spirituality

Affirmations & Creating a Self-Care Practice of “Spirituality” optimizes the ability to approach any situation in calmness and indeed peacefulness. When you are centered and live a life from the inner wisdom of your soul, you are able to remain calm in the most difficult of situations.

Here’s how I know this. Here’s how I know that you CAN remain calm in most situations:

Yesterday, I lost my brakes. I was going down a 60% grade hill. I was gaining speed. My brakes did not work. My hand brakes did not work. But, I use the affirmation: ‘positively expect great results no matter what I was facing. I am very appreciative.’ An affirmation I’ve tweaked for myself but it’s original version was from one of my mentors Fabienne Fredrickson and gifted to her students. I was saying this over and over ~ even as my passenger (my 84 year old father!) was ‘expressing’ deep concern.

I was only a mile from my house and I managed to go slowly and steadily home. Affirmation: ‘I positively expected great results no matter what I was facing.’ “Home’ was my summer cabin. I was heading there to close it down for the season. Who could I ask for help? AAA would surely tow but where. ‘I’m positively expecting great results’  It was Friday afternoon. Most mechanics would not be able to see it until Monday. I found one who would ‘look’ at it IF the tow truck got it there within two hours.  Affirmation: ‘I’m positively expecting great results’. It did.

But, how to get  anywhere ~ to get a rental car, to get home two states away, and IF the car would be ready to get to the mechanic’s shop. I was trying to think of who would be around to offer help.  Affirmation: ‘I’m positively expecting great results’. These were summer homes. I drove in the driveway and amazingly my neighbor was home to offer assistance. And, of course, she was available to get me ‘anywhere.’

I looked at my schedule and figured “UGH…..I do indeed need to get home but without a car???” Called many car rental agencies the nearest was two hours away. hmmmm What to do?  Affirmation: ‘I’m positively expecting great results’. The mechanic called my fix was simple. My brakes had overheated with little brake fluid in the car. He did the repairs and if I could get there to pick the car up within a half hour, I could have it.  Affirmation: ‘I’m positively expecting great results’  The shop was a half hour away and my neighbor and I whizzed out of the driveway!

The story epitomizes how I have embraced spirituality. Through deep meditation, journaling, affirmations and clarity, I know that the Universe will provide for me the solutions that are in my best interest.

The affirmation:  ‘I’m positively expecting great results no matter what I see in front of me. And, for this, I am truly appreciative.” is posted in my house. I read it when I brush my teeth, as I enter my home office, as I go down the stairs, and it’s even posted in my car. (The mechanic saw it and commented on it!) I actually don’t ‘say’ it to myself anymore except in extreme cases where I need to remain calm and embrace it~ then it comes to me quickly and effortlessly.

While facing (yes, going down that hill without brakes qualifies I believe) life ‘threatening’ experiences to simple logistical challenges, embracing affirmations and spirituality allows you to remain calm and peaceful. I wonder what lies ahead for me today:  ‘I’m positively expecting great results no matter what I see!’

How do you remain calm and peaceful when facing the challenges of life?

  1. Wow! Laura, you really walk your talk, don’t you? That must have got the adrenalin going, didn’t it? Or did your affirmation mechanism cool down your innards, too? Well done, you! Just shows the transformational power of our thoughts. Thanks for sharing.

I think the adrenalin did pump a little but certainly a lot less than it ever did 20 years ago……the affirmation came to me so quickly and effortlessly. I’m blessed! KEEP SMILING

  2. You made me shiver!
The great part, the absolutely, positively, insuperable great part is that you made it home safe.
When faced with serious situations, my adrenaline keeps me focused, so that I may navigate successfully through it — for we need to be ‘present’ and ready to act — but this is not “keeping calm” as you’re putting it.
I’ll have to remember this affirmation. “I’m positively expecting great results no matter what I see.” Yes, it’s so power-infusing! 🙂

Yes, that affirmation was given to me about 8 weeks ago and it’s been really really supportive of me! KEEP SMILING

  3. My wife and i have been really lucky when John managed to carry out it’s researching through the entire ideas a person grabbed out of your weblog. It’s not at all simplistic to just always be making a gift of procedures which often people today might have been making money from. We really do know we have the blog owner to be grateful to for this. The specific illustrations you made, the straightforward website menu, some of the friendships you will give support to foster ( space it is mostly unbelievable, and it’s really aiding our new child and the family know that the issue is often satisfying, and that’s particularly essential. Thank you for all!
